Adwoa Safo, Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection with immediate effect is to vacate that position as declared by the Office of the Presidency.
This directive was contained in a statement released from the Presidency on July 28, 2022. The statement was signed by the Communications Director at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin.
The signed release continued that the President “in accordance with article 81 (a) of the constitution the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has revoked the appointment of Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, Member of Parliament for Dome- Kwabenya, as Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, with immediate effect”.
Sarah Adwoa Safo failed to appear before the Committee to justify her absence for over fifteen sittings after many attempts by the Committee to reach her.
Other well meaning Ghanaians are also calling for the declaration of the Dome Kwabenya seat which she represents as a Member Parliament as vacant.
Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah has been asked to serve as the caretaker minister for the Gender Ministry until a substantive Minister is named by the President.
