Actor and Politician, John Dumelo, an alumnus of Achimota Secondary School, has shown unwavering support for his alma mater. While acknowledging that Presec Legon is the favored contender and is eager to secure their eighth NSMQ title, he firmly believes that Achimota will prevail.

In a tweet, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency made a bold declaration: “I am a proud Achimotan, but if Presec wins the #NSMQ2023 on the 31st, I will walk barefoot, backwards from Ayawaso West Wuogon to Presec school! They can’t surpass Motown! Presec? Tweeeaa!!!”
Meanwhile, a petition submitted by Prempeh College challenging the semifinal results of the 2023 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) between Prempeh, Opoku Ware, and Pope Johns Senior High School has been dismissed. Opoku Ware emerged victorious in the semifinals, earning a spot in the grand finale alongside Presec and Achimota School.
Prempeh College had raised concerns about the semifinal results and had taken to social media to dispute the outcome. The management of Primetime, the organizers of the NSMQ, defended the Quiz Mistress’s ruling and affirmed that Prempeh College was not subjected to unfair treatment, as had been claimed on social media.
