In a heartfelt display of compassion and support, former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, along with her family, paid a visit to the residence of former President John Agyekum Kufuor in Peduase. This visit, which took place on Thursday, aimed to convey their condolences following the passing of President Kufuor’s beloved wife, Theresa, who succumbed to a prolonged illness on Sunday, October 1.
Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings was joined by her daughters, Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, and Amina Agyeman-Rawlings. The delegation also included former Minister and Member of Parliament Fritz Baffour, Madam Sylvia Ahorlu, and Mr. Kobina Andoh Amoakwa. Speaking on behalf of Nana Konadu, Fritz Baffour expressed their sincere sympathies to President Kufuor in this difficult time.
Former President Kufuor graciously welcomed Mrs. Agyeman-Rawlings and her delegation, expressing his gratitude for their kind gesture. He also shared the poignant story of his relationship with his late wife, recounting the fateful circumstances that led to their first meeting in 1961.
Present at this gathering were Mr. Kwabena Taylor, the head of Mrs. Theresa Kufuor’s family, Nana Kwabena Mensah, Chief of Dabaa (the hometown of President Kufuor), as well as Mr. Kwabena Osei Adubofour and Mr. Adu Acheampong.
Before Nana Konadu’s visit, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Bagbin, along with a sizeable parliamentary delegation, also paid their respects to President Kufuor and exchanged pleasantries with the former First Lady before leaving the premises.”
