The Ghana Bar Association (GBA) has called on the country’s security agencies to enhance education of the general public on crime prevention and detection. This the association believes will awaken the security consciousness of Ghanaians.
In a statement released in connection to a 28th May, 2022 shooting incident that occurred on Bole-Bamboi highway in the Savannah Region involving a lawyer, Richard Badombie, the association has called on the general public to volunteer to the security agencies information to aid in the thorough investigation of the issue.
According to sources, Richard Badombie, was heading for Jirapa in the Upper West Region with some relatives in a vehicle when they were stopped by three men who immediately shot him in the early hours of Saturday causing the vehicle to veer off the road.
The Ghana Bar Association in order to aid the investigation has placed a GH₵20,000 bounty on the armed robbers who shot the lawyer who works with with Lartey, Badombie & Co. Associates in Accra.
“The GBA also urges the general public to volunteer information to the security agencies to enable them thoroughly investigate the matter with a view to identifying the perpetrators of the crime and making them suffer the consequences of their action. The GBA stands ready and prepared to give a reward of Twenty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC20,000.00) to anyone who volunteers credible and legitimate information that will lead to the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators of the crime” the statement said.
The Ghana Bar Association also mentioned the sharply increasing crime rates and violent attacks in various parts of the country . It therefore advised the security agencies to intensify activities and programs aimed at drastically reducing the crime rate in the country, especially armed robbery and other violent crimes.
“The Ghana Bar Association (GBA) has noted with grave concern the upsurge in armed robbery and other violent crimes in the country”.
The Savannah Regional Police command is currently pursuing the armed robbers who committed the act.
